Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are an incredible cosmetic treatment that is able to fully transform a smile in just two visits to our office. Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are bonded to the surface of teeth to transform the size, shape, color, and overall appearance of each tooth. Veneers are even able to conceal minor cases of gaps or crowding!

Before applying veneers, it is necessary for patients to have their teeth prepared. This involves gently removing a small portion of the front of each tooth in order to make room for veneers to be applied. The removal of this outer enamel layer allows the thin shells to seamlessly lay against the tooth surfaces, for a long-lasting cosmetic improvement.

It’s important to note that once this has been done, patients will continue needing to have veneers replaced throughout their life.

Lumineers

Lumineers are very similar to porcelain veneers but do have some differences to consider. One major factor regarding the difference between the two is that lumineers are much thinner and do not require any portion of the tooth to be removed for preparation. These thin shells are made from laminate instead of porcelain and are able to produce the same incredible results when applied to the tooth surface.

Lumineers are an attractive option for patients who are unwilling to commit to the recurring application of porcelain veneers. Since the teeth do not require preparation for this procedure, lumineers do not have to be a permanent option. Patients can choose to have them removed at any time as the protective layering of enamel still remains on the surface of their teeth.
