What Are Dental Implants?
For patients looking to replace missing teeth, our practice in Bell, CA offers an ideal, lasting solution with dental implants. Not only are implants cosmetically appealing and blendable within the smile, but they are also the most healthy replacement for missing teeth. An implant consists of three components that work together to replace the entire tooth structure: the implant post (inserted into the jawbone), an abutment (joined to the post), and a crown, which is attached to the abutment and sits beautifully above the gumline.
The Implant Process
When a patient decides to undergo dental implant surgery, there is a process that must be followed to ensure that the procedure proceeds smoothly. We take these steps to assess the patient’s needs and discuss how an implant may help, as well as take into account any pre-treatment needs to ensure the implant is successful.
The first step to begin the dental implant process is to call our office and schedule your free consultation. During the consultation, we will assess the health of your gums and jawbone to determine if preliminary treatment is needed before moving forward. This may include treatment for gum disease or bone grafts to strengthen the density of your jawbone so that implants can be supported.
Once you have been approved to begin treatment, we will schedule a surgery date for the placement of your implant. This operation will be performed while you are comfortably under sedation so that you feel no pain or discomfort during the procedure. Once the titanium post is secured into the jawbone, you will have a strong foundation to begin building your full restoration.
Once the implant is placed, your jawbone and surrounding gum tissue will need time to heal before moving forward with the process. Giving your implant time to bond with the jawbone is extremely important in order to ensure that your full implant is stable, healthy, and will last a lifetime.
Once your mouth has had time to heal, we will place the abutment. The abutment will act as a connecting piece between the implant post and the crown, allowing the two to securely bond to one another.
We will finally finish the entire process by placing your custom-made crown on the abutment, attaching all three pieces together. Your crown will be made to match the exact color and size of surrounding teeth to ensure that it truly mimics natural teeth. In fact, you may not even be able to tell the difference!
The Benefits of Dental Implants
Dental implants are an amazing innovation in dentistry that allows our dental professionals to not only enhance the appearance of smiles but truly change the lives of our patients. These incredible devices are able to function like natural, healthy teeth and restore the patient’s previous bite force. This means that people with implants are not limited in their food choices and can live their lives to the fullest! Unlike dentures, implants pose no risk of moving, shifting, or falling out, so patients can smile and laugh with confidence once again. Patients can trust dental implants as a reliable, durable restoration!

The Cost of Dental Implants
The cost of dental implants is something that differs for every patient. This is based on particular preliminary treatment needs, the amount of teeth that are being replaced, and what type of implant is best for the patient. While all of these factors can alter the pricing, these are changes that are made to precisely fit the patient’s needs and ensure that they receive the best outcomes possible.
