Pediatric Dentistry

Kids are always welcome at Smiles West! Our team enjoys working with children and has much experience in working with kids of every age. We typically begin dental care for children at the age of 3. By this time, your child’s primary, or baby teeth, should be developed and in need of a dental check-up. If you have dental concerns before your child reaches their 3rd birthday, you are welcome to schedule a visit right away! If your child is older than 3 and hasn’t received any dental care, it’s never too late to start. Paving a path towards a healthy dental future is one of the best gifts you can give your child! A healthy smile will benefit their oral health as well as their overall health. Your child can build good oral habits that will stick with them for life!

Protecting Your Child’s Smile is Our Passion

At Smiles West, we believe in preventative dentistry! Scheduling regular dental check-ups every 6 months is one of the best ways to protect your child’s smile and avoid toothaches and other dental problems. At a regular dental check-up, your child will receive a professional dental cleaning to remove any plaque and tartar buildup. Then our team will examine their smile to check for any signs of dental issues. X-rays will be taken as needed. Your child’s dentist will discuss any dental concerns with you and recommend treatment if needed. You can ask their dentist any questions you may have and discuss any dental concerns. Our team can also help teach your child great dental habits such as flossing and daily dental care. We aim to make each child’s visit both comfortable and fun!

Strengthening Young Teeth

Fluoride treatments are available as well as dental sealants. Dental sealants are a protective treatment that coats the back molars to protect the deep crevices and hard-to-reach areas from cavities. Once dental sealants are applied, they should last for several years. Fluoride treatments and dental sealants both help to protect your child’s smile while they are young and still learning the best ways to brush and floss.

    Our Stance on COVID-19

We understand that this is an unprecedented time for many patients with the coronavirus still being an active concern. However, more than ever before, your oral health plays a crucial role in your overall health. The mouth is the gateway to the body, but when common oral infection and disease take hold, it impacts your immune system! This can make you more susceptible to becoming sick in the future. Your best defense is good oral health, and maintaining your regular dental appointments makes that possible. We are following all CDC guidelines to provide our patients and team with a healthy and safe environment to provide life changing dental care.
